Be where your feet are

As a superintendent we are the lead storyteller for our district and don’t always find ourselves on the other side of the camera. But today, one of our rockstar employees, Wendy Taylor, snapped this picture and sent it my way with a quick note “having a Sup get out and be a friend/buddy makes PC the place to be”—a perfect reminder that every interaction matters.

Not that I was having a bad day. But if you ever need a reset, I highly recommend climbing up on a tunnel with some elementary kids and having a deep, philosophical discussion. (Side note: I may be slightly offended that they were shocked I could get up there.)
The excitement on their faces? The pure joy in just having a conversation? That’s the work.
Sometimes, our to-do list feels like the most important thing in the world. But we can’t miss the little moments—the quick chats, the shared laughs, the chance to put smiles on kids’ faces. That’s what matters.
So every now and then, set the list aside. Be where your feet are. Because the best part of the work we do isn’t always on the list.
PC is the place to be!
